Femi Olaleye, the managing director of Optimal Cancer Care Foundation, has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a court in Lagos for raping his wife’s niece.
The judgment was delivered on October 24, 2023, by Judge Rahman Oshodi at the special offenses and domestic violence court in Lagos.
The judge convicted Olaleye on two counts: defilement of a 16-year-old minor and sexual assault by penetration. According to Justice Oshodi, the evidence presented in the case showed that he had raped the victim and forced her to engage in sexual acts.
Justice Oshodi noted that the victim’s testimony and the doctor’s examination were consistent and compelling. Furthermore, the judge emphasized that Olaleye’s confessional statement and the exchange of WhatsApp and email messages with his wife served as additional evidence against him.
The court also took into account the statement and undertaking that Olaleye had written and signed, along with his lawyer Olalekan Buruji, bearing the NBA (Nigerian Bar Association) seal at Anthony Police Station.
These documents further supported the case against him, confirming the rape and sexual assault.
As a result, Femi Olaleye has been sentenced to life imprisonment for his crimes.
