Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit filed against Senate President Godswill Akpabio over the suspension of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Justice James Omotosho, delivering judgement on Friday, held that the ten plaintiffs who instituted the action had no locus standi to challenge the decision of the Senate.

He ruled that the suit lacked merit and subsequently struck it out.

The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/654/2025, was filed by Ovavu Illiyasu and nine others.

They asked the court to void the six-month suspension placed on Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan for alleged misconduct.

According to them, the suspension would leave Kogi Central Senatorial District shortchanged in representation.

Justice Omotosho disagreed, stating that the plaintiffs were not in a position to bring the matter before the court.

Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended by the Senate in July following accusations of misconduct.

She later challenged the suspension in court and in September, Justice Omotosho ordered her immediate reinstatement, declaring the Senate’s action unlawful.

The Senate, however, appealed the decision and sought a stay of execution.

The appeal is still pending before the Court of Appeal.
