The Kaduna State High Court has postponed the bail hearing of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai to the first week of June 2026.

According to Channels Television, Justice Darius Khobo announced the adjournment on Tuesday after proceedings in a case involving multiple charges against the former governor. The charges, filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, reportedly border on alleged financial misconduct and abuse of office.

El-Rufai arrived at the court around 9 a.m. in a convoy escorted by operatives of the ICPC and the Department of State Services, while security presence was tightened within and around the court premises. Supporters also gathered outside as the proceedings took place under heavy security.

Following the session, counsel to the former governor, Ukpon Akpan, criticised the repeated postponement of the bail ruling, describing it as “politically motivated.”

“The matter was adjourned to the first week of June 2026 for ruling on the bail application,” the court confirmed.

The adjournment comes after El-Rufai previously alleged that there were attempts to implicate him in further offences and frustrate his release on bail. He described the situation as part of “malicious orchestrations” aimed at keeping him in detention.

He also recalled an earlier incident on February 12, 2026, in which he claimed there were plans to arrest him upon arrival at Abuja Airport from Cairo, calling it “the beginning of a troubling pattern.”

The court had initially scheduled April 21 for ruling on the bail application before the latest shift to June 2026.
