The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has scheduled October 8 to hear Senegal’s appeal against the decision that stripped the country of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title.

In a statement released on Friday, CAS said the proceedings would be held behind closed doors at its headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The court, however, noted that no verdict would be issued immediately after the hearing, explaining that it could not indicate when the final decision would be delivered.

“CAS confirms a hearing has been scheduled for the procedure between the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) against the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) concerning the final of the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 (AFCON 2025),” the statement read.

“Registered by CAS on 25 March 2026, the FSF appeal seeks to set aside a CAF decision declaring that the Senegal national team forfeited the AFCON 2025 final and recording the Moroccan national team as the winners of the match by 3-0.

“The appeal requests that CAS declare the FSF winners of AFCON 2025.”

The dispute stems from a ruling by the CAF Appeals Board on March 17, which overturned the outcome of the 2025 AFCON final, stripped Senegal of the championship and awarded Morocco a 3-0 victory.

CAF held that Senegal violated Articles 82 and 84 of the tournament regulations after several players left the pitch and returned to the dressing room in protest against a refereeing decision during the final.

On March 25, CAS confirmed that the Senegalese Football Federation had formally lodged an appeal challenging CAF’s decision.
