Burna Boy has reached another career milestone after becoming the African artiste with the highest number of songs to appear on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The Nigerian Grammy winner now has nine entries on the chart, moving ahead of Tems, who had previously matched his record of eight entries.
Burna Boy secured the new record with Dai Dai, the official soundtrack of the ongoing FIFA World Cup, created alongside Colombian superstar Shakira.
The song entered this week’s Billboard Hot 100 at number 75, giving the Nigerian singer a historic edge.
Shakira had earlier spoken about her excitement over collaborating with Burna Boy, explaining that she had long wanted to work with him.
“It was very easy to come up with the melody, the lyrics, the concept, and then obviously when I had Burna Boy recorded, that was like the cherry on top. I always wanted to do something with Burna, and I think that his voice just takes it to another level,” she said.
