A video showing President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew, Mamman Daura, in high spirits has emerged on the social media.
Daura was reportedly flown to the United Kingdom for urgent medical treatment. However, the Presidency and the family said that he was only abroad for routine medical check-up.
The video released by Johannes Tobi W on his Twitter on Saturday, August 22, showed Daura dressed in native with a white cap whilst on a phone call.
Eighty-year-old Daura is seen in the video walking around the room on a phone call. He seems to be in good health and high spirits.
The Tweet reads, “Baba Mamman Daura, hale and hearty. Spritely as always! The man who our unfortunate media claimed to have been flown abroad for treatment. Our media is at its worst. Anything goes. Any damn ridiculous thing. All for clicks? No fact-checks, just conjectures and fake news,” Johannes tweeted. His family had earlier confirmed that the elder statesman flew out of the country for a routine medical check-up, but it was not an emergency.”
Denying claims Daura’s family member said: “Mallam did not travel to the UK to treat COVID-19 or because of any medical emergency. He is in good health. He went for his regular check-up and there is nothing strange about that.” This is coming a few days after; a report by Daily Trust claimed a nephew of President Buhari was flown to the UK for medical treatment.
Recall that Sahara Reporters first reported that the 80-year-old was flown in a private jet to the UK on Wednesday, August 19. However, another newspaper, Leadership, reports that the presidency denied the reports claiming Mamman Daura had been flown out of the country for a medical check-up.
