At least four passengers sustained serious injuries on Sunday morning after a commercial bus reportedly lost control and plunged into a ditch along Oba Ogunusi Road in Ojodu, Lagos State.

The accident occurred opposite Babs Fafunwa School, inward the Victoria Island axis, and involved a 14-seater yellow commercial bus with no other vehicle affected.

According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, the crash was linked to suspected brake failure, which caused the driver to lose control and veer off the road.

“Approximately four occupants sustained severe injuries and have been evacuated to the Emergency Centre at Toll Gate,” the agency said in a statement shared on its X handle.

LASTMA officials were quickly deployed to the scene to oversee rescue operations and maintain order, while efforts were made to tow the damaged vehicle from the site.

“Recovery operations remain ongoing, and there is currently no effect on traffic flow,” the agency added.

Authorities have continued to emphasise the importance of proper vehicle maintenance to prevent such incidents.
