For one who rarely attend parties, everyone was surprised to see him at a birthday bash.
Billionaire businessman Mike Adenuga on Wednesday made a rare public appearance as he joined other dignitaries to celebrate Bright Igbinedion at the latter’s birthday party in Lekki, Lagos.
A video from the celebration shared on Instagram shows the Globacom chairman holding a microphone as he prayed for the celebrant.
“Merry happy returns, we’ve been brothers for so many years and I wish you many healthy prosperous returns on this day,” Adenuga said as guests responded with a resounding “Amen.”
Bright, one of the sons of Esama of Benin Kingdom, Gabriel Igbinedion, is a businessman and member of the governing council at Igbinedion University. He is also a director at Okada Air, chairman of Coral Oil & Gas and has business interests in South Africa.
The event, held at Bright’s residence in Lekki, was attended by close friends and family members including his elder brother and former Edo State governor Lucky Igbinedion and former Delta State governor James Ibori.
Adenuga’s presence at the event was particularly notable as he is known to be reclusive and rarely seen in public.
Born April 29, 1953, Adenuga is the founder of Globacom, Nigeria’s second-largest telecommunications company, and Conoil, a leading oil exploration firm. He was conferred with the national honour of Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) in 2022 and France’s Commander of the Legion of Honour in 2018.
