Former Big Brother Naija housemate Somadina Anyama, better known as Soma has issued a cease and desist notice to his ex-girlfriend Hilda Dirisu, following allegations of abuse.
Soma shared the legal notice on Instagram on Monday after addressing the accusations in a previous formal statement.
The notice dated November 25, 2024 was titled “Cease and desist from defamatory statements and false allegations.”
Soma’s legal team emphasised that the former relationship was consensual and ended amicably, rejecting Hilda’s claims of physical abuse and drugging as “false, defamatory, and baseless.”
“Our Client acknowledges that you were previously engaged in a romantic relationship, which he considered consensual, respectful, and conducted in good faith. It is therefore deeply troubling and disappointing to our Client that you have chosen to fabricate and disseminate false accusations, including allegations of physical abuse and drugging, which are entirely baseless and defamatory.”
The letter requested Hilda to stop spreading these allegations, issue a public retraction and provide a written apology within seven days.
It warned that non-compliance would lead to legal action, including claims for damages.
“In light of the foregoing, take notice that you are hereby formally put on notice to immediately. Cease and desist from publishing, making, or disseminating any further false or defamatory statements about our client.
“Issue a public and unequivocal retraction of all defamatory statements on the same platforms and in the same manner as the original allegations were disseminated and provide a formal written apology to our Client, which must be delivered through this office within seven (7) days of receipt of this letter.
“Failure to comply with the demands herein will leave our client with no choice but to seek all available legal remedies, including but not limited to instituting legal action for defamation, seeking substantial damages for injury to his reputation”
In his earlier statement, Soma expressed his disappointment over the accusations, which surfaced while he was recovering from a “life-threatening situation.”
He denied any wrongdoing saying, “I have never drugged, assaulted, or harmed anyone, and I deeply condemn any form of abuse.”
Soma acknowledged that while his relationship with Hilda had highs and lows, he harbored no ill will and wished for peace between them.
These allegations are completely baseless and such actions are contrary to my values and the person I strive to be.
Soma thanked his supporters for standing by him during the controversy, noting the emotional toll of the allegations.
He emphasised the need for careful handling of such matters and urged the public to avoid rushing to judgment.
The reality TV star also expressed a commitment to personal growth, aspiring to be a positive role model despite the challenges.
Hilda’s accusations, which included claims of stalking and assault, were initially made on social media earlier in November, sparking the ongoing dispute.
