For the first time in recent memory, Barcelona don’t have any major injuries. Manager Xavi’s tenure seems to have been marked by knocks, bumps and bruises, with players constantly missing at key positions. But with Ronald Araujo back in training after undergoing thigh surgery, Xavi doesn’t have any players on the treatment table.
There is, however, one big issue. Star man Robert Lewandowski will be out for the next three games due to suspension. The striker was sent off on November 8, picking up two yellow cards in a 2-1 defeat away at Osasuna. But he saw his suspension increased to three games after making an inappropriate gesture to referee Jesus Gil Manzano.
That complicates things for Xavi’s side, at least in the short term.
When will Lewandowski be back from suspension?
Lewandowski picked up a three-game suspension in Barcelona’s last game before the World Cup and will miss a trio of crucial league contests over the next two weeks. Barca play Espanyol, Real Betis and Atletico Madrid in a 10 day period, and Lewandowski will be forced to watch all three from the stands.
Lewandowski is expected to return for Barcelona’s league contest against Getafe on January 22.
