The remains of 91-year-old Awujale of Ijebuland were interred on Monday in his hometown where he ruled for 65 years

The Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, has been buried at his Igbeba residence in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State.

The revered monarch, who died on Sunday at the age of 91, was buried on Monday evening at 6:00 p.m. in a mausoleum, following Islamic rites.

Oba Adetona was one of Nigeria’s most respected and influential traditional rulers, with a remarkable reign spanning 65 years, the longest in the history of the Awujale throne.
