Fuji music icon Otunba Wasiu Ayinde Adesanya, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate (KWAM1), has approached the Ogun State High Court in Ijebu-Ode, seeking an interim injunction to stop Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun and five other officials from proceeding with the appointment of the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
The other respondents in the suit include the Chairman and Secretary of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the Chairman of the Awujale Interregnum Administrative Council, and the Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House.
K1 De Ultimate had previously expressed interest in the vacant throne, claiming his connection to the Jadiara Royal House within the wider Fusengbuwa Ruling House. However, the royal family dismissed his claim, maintaining that the Olori Omoba of Ijebuland has no affiliation with that lineage.
In the ex parte motion filed under High Court 2 (Suit No: HC3/238/2025), the musician cited provisions from Order 38 Rule 4 and Order 39 Rule 1 of the Ogun State High Court (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2024, Section 36 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), and the court’s inherent jurisdiction as grounds for the injunction.

The suit, dated December 16, requests that the respondents be restrained from taking any further action in the selection process pending the outcome of the substantive case.
“There is a need for the court to invoke its powers of interim injunction against the respondents in order to secure the interest of the applicant and preserve the res from being dissipated or interfered with by the respondents,” the filing explains.
The court is yet to announce a date for the hearing of the matter.
