Former vice president Atiku Abubakar has clarified that he used the name Sadiq Abubakar to sit for his West African Examination Council (WAEC) but subsequently changed it to the name he bears now.
This clarification came after members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) raised questions about Atiku’s name in response to his determination to prove a case of certificate forgery against President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement shared on social media by the Director of Strategic Communications of the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign, Dele Momodu, Atiku confirmed that he used the name Sadiq Abubakar to take the WAEC exams but later swore an affidavit to confirm that he is the same person as Atiku Abubakar.
He further emphasized that he attended Ahmadu Bello University as Atiku Abubakar, passed exams as Atiku Abubakar, and was hired into the Customs Service as Atiku Abubakar.
Atiku’s response aimed to address concerns of forgery regarding his name.
