Atiku Declares PDP As Government-in-Waiting

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said that “PDP is government-in-waiting.” Atiku said this on Saturday in Bauchi State at a meeting for PDP lawmakers-elect.

He told the people in his party to stay positive while they waited for the case to be decided by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal. Remember that the PDP’s candidate for president in the 2023 election, Atiku, lost to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The former Vice President and the PDP are challenging Tinubu’s win at the election case panel.

“You are the party’s and your constituents’ representatives,” Atiku said. Don’t stop celebrating because of a short-term problem. Atiku told the newly elected MPs, “In the end, truth and good will win over lies and evil.”

“As a result, you must keep your resolve. Work together instead of going it alone. You are a team, and you must always work as a team to make big changes and stay in touch with your roots, constituents, and other important people.

Based on what INEC found, and until the court rules on the challenges to the elections, our newly elected members do not make up a majority in the national assembly.

So, for now, they need to get ready to be an effective and helpful opposition while also getting ready for a possible role as the ruling party once the cases are settled.

“Never give up hope. The opposition’s job is to make the government and the ruling party answer for their actions. By doing this, you show that you and your party are ready to run the country as soon as possible. You could say that the PDP is “the government waiting to happen.”

Atiku has told the newly elected members of the national assembly that they should fight any effort by the ruling party to make the assembly a rubber stamp.

In reaction to the current state of the PDP, Atiku said that everyone in the party must work together to turn things around.

“Everyone in our party, including the people we chose, is working to rebuild it. Also, everyone will need to work toward the same goal. We’ll have to work harder than usual to get our party together. “Stop making war over things that happened yesterday,” he said.
