Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta expressed pride in his team despite a heartbreaking FA Cup exit to Manchester United on penalties. The Gunners failed to capitalize on a one-man advantage for over an hour after Diogo Dalot’s second-half red card.

Bruno Fernandes put United ahead in the FA Cup match before Gabriel Magalhaes quickly equalized. However, Arsenal’s lack of clinical finishing proved costly, with Martin Odegaard missing a penalty and both Kai Havertz and Declan Rice spurning key chances in normal time.
In theFA Cup penalty shootout, Havertz’s effort was denied by United’s reserve goalkeeper, Altay Bayindir, who also saved Odegaard’s earlier spot-kick to seal a dramatic win for the Red Devils.
“It was unbelievable,” said Arteta.
“(Based on) the performance, we deserved to win the game by a mile. But the reality is that we are out, and the only thing we will be judged on is that.”
Arsenal now turn their focus to Wednesday’s crucial north London derby against Tottenham as they look to reignite their campaign, which has so far fallen short of lofty expectations.
United Progress Under Amorim
For Manchester United, the victory was another sign of improvement under manager Ruben Amorim, following their 2-2 comeback draw against Liverpool last weekend.
“We have to compete no matter what the situation and we competed today,” said Amorim.
“They had more chances, but I think we deserved to win the way we played and the way we fought.
Round Four Awaits
Man United will face Leicester City in the next round, marking the return of Ruud van Nistelrooy to Old Trafford as Leicester’s manager. Amorim, who chose not to retain Van Nistelrooy as part of his coaching staff, spoke warmly of the Dutch legend:
“He’s a class guy. I’m looking forward to speaking with him. But we need to win! Maybe he will be divided—he loves this club!”
The result keeps United’s FA Cup hopes alive while Arsenal must regroup to prevent their season from unraveling further.
