Several unidentified men have set ablaze the house of Joe Igbokwe, Special Adviser on Drainage and Water Resources to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in Nnewi, Anambra State.
Mr Igbokwe has been critical of the Indigenous People of Biafra in recent times. He had recently accused the group of killing Dr Chike Akunyili, widower of former NAFDAC chief Prof Dora Akunyili.
However, in a Facebook post on Sunday, he also accused the separatist group of being behind the attack at his home.
“IPOB invaded my house in Nnewi about now. I am sure they raised [sic] down my house, given the jerry cans of petrol I saw being offloaded from their Sienna car via CCTV,” Igbokwe wrote.
“To God be the glory. I am still alive.”
Confirming the incident, Anambra police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga in a brief statement said: “At about 2pm, on 3rd Oct 2021, the command received a distress call of fire incident in Nnewi.
“The police operatives are currently on ground and the area has since been cordoned off. Further details shall be communicated.”
