Federal High Court in Abuja has warned Senator Andy Uba to appear in court on October 28, to face trial in an alleged N400 million fraud case or risk arrest.

Justice Mohammed Umar gave the warning on Wednesday after Mr Uba’s lawyer, C.F. Odiniru, again cited medical grounds for his absence.

Counsel to the inspector general of police, A.M. Abdullahi, had applied for a bench warrant under the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) 2015, following Uba’s repeated non-appearance since the case was filed in 2024.

Uba, alongside Benjamin Etu and one other person said to be at large, is accused of conspiring in 2022 to obtain N400 million from George Uboh under the pretext of securing the appointment of a managing director at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The prosecution said it has documentary evidence, recordings and six witnesses prepared to testify.

The attorney general of the federation had previously approved Uba’s prosecution.

The judge adjourned the case to October 28 for plea, warning that if Uba fails to appear, necessary steps will be taken to compel his attendance.
