Alaafin Throne: Prince Ayobami Ladigbolu, a former contender for the Alaafin of Oyo throne, has opened up about the challenges he faced during the race for the crown.
In a heartfelt Facebook post, Ladigbolu extended his congratulations to the newly crowned Alaafin, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, describing his ascension as divinely ordained.

Reflecting on his experience, Ladigbolu revealed the disappointment he felt as some of his supporters abandoned him for financial reasons.
“I learned the importance of money during the Alaafin race,” he wrote. “Due to financial constraints, many who initially supported me later backed other candidates. Even those I had assisted in the past were nowhere to be found when I needed their help. But I hold no grudge just lessons for the future.”
Despite these setbacks, Ladigbolu expressed gratitude to his family and supporters, particularly the Agbonhin Sanda Oridota family and the Ladigbolu section of the Agunloye royal lineage, for their unwavering backing.
Alaafin Throne: Congratulating Oba Owoade, Ladigbolu said, “Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade was chosen by God to take the throne. I rejoice with him and urge the entire Ladigbolu family to support him. Kaabiesi!”
Ladigbolu also acknowledged the bond he shared with fellow contestants, calling Princes Kolade Tunde Sanni Oladigbolu and Muideen Adekunle Oladigbolu his “blood brothers.”
Alaafin Throne: He called on the people of Oyo to rally behind the new Alaafin, emphasizing unity and progress: “Contests for kingship are often accompanied by controversies. However, we must manage these differences and work together to build a stronger Oyo and Yorubaland.”

This gesture of goodwill from Prince Ladigbolu sets a hopeful tone for the reign of Oba Owoade, signaling a future of unity and collaboration for the historic town of Oyo.
