Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has commended his nephew, Afrobeats star Davido, for promoting the Adeleke family legacy and Osun State on the global stage.
The governor’s praise followed Davido’s performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2026 in California, United States, where a traditional Yoruba panegyric (oríkì) was delivered as part of the singer’s stage introduction.
Sharing his reaction via his X handle alongside a video of the performance, Adeleke described the moment as a proud one for both the family and the state.
“Another proud moment. My nephew @davido putting the family, our heritage and state on the global map,” he wrote.
The video showed a vibrant introduction on the Gobi Stage, complete with dramatic red-and-yellow visuals, pyrotechnics, and coordinated performers. A key highlight was the recitation of Davido’s oríkì, reflecting his roots in Ede, Osun State.
