Nollywood actor Ikechukwu Nweke has publicly revealed his battle with colon cancer, saying the cost of treatment has left him seeking financial assistance from well-meaning Nigerians.
The actor made the disclosure in an emotional Instagram video titled “My Cancer Journey,” where he recounted his struggle with the illness after being diagnosed in 2025.
Nweke said he had quietly fought the disease for months while spending over ₦15 million on chemotherapy, radiotherapy, scans, medical tests and medication.
He acknowledged the support he has received from relatives and colleagues in the movie industry, including Destiny Etiko, Uche Nancy, Lizzy Gold and Ebele Okaro, but admitted that he still has a long road to recovery.
According to him, doctors have advised him to continue with another phase of treatment, which he can no longer afford on his own.
While appealing for public support, the actor said even the smallest donation or a simple prayer would go a long way in helping him continue the fight.

“Good morning, good afternoon and good evening from wherever you are watching me from, I was diagnosed with colon cancer last year. I have been trying so hard to manage it privately. I have spent a lot of money and my family members have contributed a whole lot. People close to me like Destiny Etiko, Uche Nancy, Lizzy Gold, Ebele Okaro, among others have also been supportive.
“Unfortunately, my battle is not over yet. My doctors have advised that I must continue with the next phase of my treatment to give me the best chance of a full recovery. I cannot afford to stop or skip this stage, but the financial burden has become overwhelming.
“Today, I’m humbly asking for your help. No amount is too small. Your support, your prayers, and even sharing this video can make a real difference in my fight for life,” he said.
