Nigerian actor IK Ogbonna has broken his silence after reports surfaced online alleging that he was under investigation over an alleged romance scam involving $75,000.
The reports claimed the movie star had been invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) alongside the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) following a complaint from a 49-year-old American woman identified as Kimberly Ann, who alleged they had maintained an online relationship since 2025.
Responding via his Instagram Story, Ogbonna dismissed the allegations, insisting they were fabricated and intended to damage his reputation.
“This report is completely false, malicious, and without any factual basis. I don’t support, or participate in any form of internet fraud, romance scams, or any other fraudulent activity.”
The actor further explained that scammers have repeatedly created fake profiles using his identity to deceive unsuspecting members of the public, stressing that he has never authorised anyone to act on his behalf online.
