Ekiti politician Opeyemi Falegan has made peace overtures to Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday, offering her an apology over their bitter separation several years ago.
The politician expressed regret during a TikTok Live broadcast with the actress on Saturday, where they discussed their troubled relationship and the disagreements that followed their breakup in 2022.
During the discussion, Nkechi reminded Falegan that some of his past comments about her had continued to affect her reputation, with social media users still referring to the remarks whenever they wanted to attack her.
She explained that although considerable time had passed since their disagreement, the consequences of his statements had not completely disappeared.
“I told you something in February that if you must, you see what’s because of what you did five years ago, some irrelevant nitwits, they used to use it to insult me yesterday. That is to tell you the internet never forgets,” she said.
The actress also pointed out that she had not allowed their personal differences to stop her from defending him against accusations on social media.
She recalled coming to his defence in the comment sections of videos where people accused him of scamming them, insisting that they had mistaken him for someone else.
Despite acknowledging their past differences, Nkechi said she was prepared to move forward but expected Falegan to take responsibility for his actions.
“There’s no letting go without an apology,” she said.
Falegan, in his response, appealed for understanding, arguing that people should not be judged solely by their past behaviour. He maintained that he had matured and was no longer the same person he was during their disagreement.
“A gentleman wouldn’t extend the words of the lady. And another thing you need to understand is this: who I was yesterday is not who I am today,” he said.

He also suggested that both of them should put their conflicting accounts of the breakup behind them rather than continue revisiting the incident.
The politician subsequently offered a heartfelt apology, asking the actress to forgive him and move on from the unpleasant experience.
“From the bottom of my heart to the depth of my soul, do not be angry, Nkechi. That is gone. See that you have grown and more mature,” he said.
Their relationship became a major subject of discussion in 2022 following their separation, which was accompanied by public accusations and heated exchanges across social media platforms.
Although the pair had previously given the impression that they were married, reports surrounding their breakup indicated that they had not formalised their union legally.
