Nollywood actress Omowunmi Dada has opened up about ending a relationship after discovering that her partner, whom she met as a Christian, had begun observing Islamic practices.
The actress shared the experience while speaking with VJ Adams, explaining that she became concerned when her partner told her he was fasting during Ramadan.
According to Dada, she asked him about the reason for the fasting, only for him to explain that he was doing it because it would make his mother happy.
The revelation, she said, made her realise that their religious differences could become an issue in their future together.
Dada explained that she has no problem with Muslims but wants to build a family where she and her husband share the same Christian faith and raise their children according to those beliefs.
She said her partner tried to convince her to remain in the relationship, including offering to attend church with her. However, she was uncomfortable with his expectation that their future children would also visit the mosque and learn about Islam.

She said, “I dated someone who, when I met him, was a Christian, and then sometime later Ramadan started, and he said he was fasting. I said, ‘Why?’ and he said, ‘Because that is what will make his mom happy.’ He said being a Muslim is what will make his mom happy. Right then, I knew I couldn’t be with him.
“I have nothing against Muslims; I have Muslim friends who are amazing people, by the way. But for the kind of family that I want to raise, I would love to raise my children the Christian way. I want to be able to hold hands with my husband in one faith, in unity as a family.”
