The Lagos State Government has announced a three-week traffic diversion plan to accommodate the rehabilitation of Oke-Afa Bridge in Isolo.
The traffic management measures will take effect from Friday, August 28, and remain in place until Friday, September 18, 2026, according to the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi.
Osiyemi said the rehabilitation would be carried out in two stages to reduce the impact on motorists and keep traffic moving around the busy Isolo-Ejigbo corridor.
The first phase, scheduled for August 28 to September 11, will focus on the outbound section of the bridge for vehicles travelling from Isolo towards Ejigbo.
“During this period, motorists travelling from Isolo towards Ejigbo will be diverted onto the Isolo-bound carriageway from Pako Roundabout, where traffic will operate in both directions before motorists rejoin the main carriageway at Mobil Filling Station,” he said.
He explained that vehicles heading from Ejigbo towards Isolo would continue using their existing route while sharing the carriageway with Ejigbo-bound motorists between Mobil Filling Station and Pako Roundabout.
The second phase will run from September 12 to September 18 and will affect the inbound Isolo section of the bridge.
During this stage, motorists travelling from Ejigbo towards Isolo will be redirected onto the Ejigbo-bound carriageway from Mobil Filling Station, with traffic operating in both directions before reconnecting with the main carriageway at Pako Roundabout.
“Traffic coming from Isolo will continue to move freely while sharing the carriageway with Isolo-bound vehicles between Pako Roundabout and Mobil Filling Station, after which motorists will regain full access to the road,” Osiyemi added.
The commissioner said temporary restrictions on vehicular movement would be necessary as the rehabilitation progresses and appealed to motorists to remain patient and follow instructions from traffic officials.
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) will deploy personnel to the area to manage traffic and minimise congestion throughout the construction period.
Osiyemi also disclosed that an emergency tow truck would be stationed along the route to quickly remove vehicles that break down and prevent additional obstruction.

“An emergency tow vehicle will also be stationed along the axis to promptly remove broken-down vehicles and prevent avoidable obstruction of traffic,” he said.
The rehabilitation is being carried out by the Federal Ministry of Works through the Office of the Federal Controller, Lagos, in collaboration with Messrs. Strabic Construction Limited.
The state government advised motorists using the route to plan their journeys ahead and adhere to all temporary traffic directives during the three-week rehabilitation exercise.
