The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency has confirmed that three separate road accidents occurred across different parts of Lagos in the early hours of Saturday, with no fatalities recorded.
In a statement, the agency said the incidents happened at Olupese Bus Stop, Aswani Bus Stop and Oba Ogunji Road, adding that emergency responders swiftly responded to each scene alongside the Lagos State Ambulance Service, Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, the Nigeria Police and other agencies.
According to LASEMA, the coordinated response helped protect lives and ensured traffic was restored quickly on the affected routes.
The first incident occurred around 12:07 a.m. at Olupese Bus Stop inward Oshodi after a truck transporting granite became stuck when one of its rear tyres sank into a pothole, blocking part of the road.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the poor state of the road contributed to the incident. No injuries or deaths were reported.
LASEMA immediately deployed its Eagle Response Team to manage traffic while its heavy-duty recovery vehicle, Super Metro, was mobilised to remove the stranded truck. Recovery operations were still ongoing when the statement was issued.
Less than an hour later, another crash occurred at about 12:59 a.m. at Aswani Bus Stop inward Iyana Isolo.
The accident involved a Sienna vehicle with registration number ABJ-515DQ and an oncoming truck with an unidentified registration number. The impact forced the truck onto a culvert, obstructing traffic.
Although no life was lost, three people—two women and one man—sustained injuries.
Emergency personnel from LASEMA’s Lagos Response Team, LRU Medics, LASAMBUS, the Nigeria Police and LASTMA treated the victims at the scene before they were taken to hospital for further medical attention.
Traffic was diverted while the damaged vehicles were removed. By 2:45 a.m., both vehicles had been cleared from the road, with the truck handed over to LASTMA and the Sienna released to officers from Aswani Police Station.

A third accident was reported at about 1:19 a.m. on Oba Ogunji Road, involving a concrete mixer truck belonging to the Lagos State Ministry of Environment and a green Volkswagen bus with registration number FKJ 424KA.
Initial findings attributed the crash to excessive speed by the Volkswagen bus. No injuries or fatalities were recorded.
LASEMA said its officials secured the scene, carried out mechanical repairs on the concrete mixer truck and later evacuated both vehicles to restore free movement of traffic. The Volkswagen bus was subsequently released to its owner.
Reacting to the incidents, LASEMA Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, praised the emergency responders for their swift intervention and urged motorists to comply with traffic regulations, avoid speeding and report damaged roads to the appropriate authorities.
“The Sanwo-Olu administration remains committed to zero tolerance for loss of life on Lagos roads. The synergy between LASEMA, LASAMBUS, LASTMA, Police, and other stakeholders ensured that these incidents were managed with minimal impact. We will continue to invest in equipment, training, and rapid response to safeguard Lagosians,” he said.
The Lagos State Government also advised motorists against driving against traffic, overloading vehicles and engaging in reckless driving, particularly during late-night hours, while encouraging residents to report emergencies through LASEMA’s toll-free emergency lines for prompt assistance.
