Nigerian-born UK mental health nurse and social media personality Bemi Orojuogun, popularly known as “London Bus Aunty,” has appeared alongside the United Kingdom’s new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, in a video unveiling a nationwide £2 cap on bus fares across England.
The video, shared on Wednesday via Burnham’s Instagram page, quickly gained attention online, highlighting Orojuogun’s growing popularity as one of London’s most recognised content creators.
Posting the clip, Burnham wrote, “And if a double-decker bus…”, while tagging the Nigerian influencer.
Orojuogun also shared the video on her Instagram page, writing, “Very good news! Today, the Prime Minister has announced a cap on all bus fares in England to £2.”
Reacting in the comments, Burnham joked, “Rebranding as Bus Andy.”
In the video, the Prime Minister explained the significance of the new transport policy.
“For too long, people said it’s not possible to reduce bus fares. Well, we showed everybody in Greater Manchester that it is possible. And today, I’m taking the £2 fare cap national,” he said.
Introducing Orojuogun during the announcement, Burnham added, “Who better, though, to endorse this policy than a special guest…”
The content creator responded with humour, saying, “Oh, Prime Minister, you’re stealing my job!”
Laughing, Burnham replied, “Cheaper bus fares, endorsed by Bus Aunty herself!”
