Nigerian TikToker and streamer Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, has narrated his experience in police custody, saying his four-day detention was unlike anything he had experienced before.
The 21-year-old social media personality was arrested on Friday in Lekki, Lagos, after a disagreement with police officers over a tinted vehicle allegedly without a number plate.
Following his release, Peller shared his account of the incident with his followers through his Snapchat page, where he described spending several days in a cell.
“I am ugly now, I can’t show my face yet. Omo, I slept in cell for almost four days. It has never happened to me before in my life o,” he wrote.
The streamer said some inmates recognised him during his time in custody and referred to him as “001”.
He also claimed that he struggled during his detention, stating that he went without food and a bath for the duration of his stay.
“I no chop for four good days, I no bath,” he said.
Peller said the experience had taught him to be more careful, adding that he was now focused on avoiding trouble as he prepares for his wedding.
“Nah my wedding dey my mind. Nah to dey waka jeje after wedding japa,” he added.
Shortly after his arrest, a video showing the confrontation went viral, with Peller accusing the officers involved of harassment. He alleged that his shirt was pulled and that a gun was pointed at his head before he was taken away.
He maintained that he had recently bought the vehicle involved in the dispute.
