President Bola Tinubu and his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu on Saturday took part in the All Progressives Congress ward-level exercise held at Ward E, Ikoyi, Lagos, as the ruling party continued preparations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The President arrived at the venue in a motorcade alongside the First Lady and was received by a large turnout of party supporters, security operatives, and journalists covering the exercise.
Footage from the event captured Tinubu moving through dense crowds of APC members dressed in traditional attire, as supporters filled the venue in large numbers to witness the process.
The exercise forms part of the APC’s ongoing May 2026 ward congress activities, which are expected to culminate in the selection of the party’s flagbearer for the 2027 presidential race, with Tinubu seeking re-nomination.
Heavy media presence was recorded at the scene as cameras followed the President through the crowd of supporters and party faithful who gathered in Ikoyi.
After participating in the exercise, Tinubu described the process as a reflection of internal democracy within the party and expressed satisfaction with how it has been conducted nationwide.
“Demonstration of internal democracy, and it has been going very well according to plan. This is politics, grassroots politics, where every member of the party has the right to participate and be involved.
“My challenge is to ensure that we have an internal democracy and it’s peaceful and well organised,” he said in a video shared by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
