President Bola Tinubu has rescheduled his planned working visit to France, Kenya, and Rwanda, shifting his departure date by one day.
In a statement issued on Friday, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, had initially announced that the President would leave Abuja on Saturday for the three-nation trip.
However, in a follow-up post on X on Saturday, Onanuga confirmed that the President will now depart on Sunday instead. No reason was given for the change.
The statement earlier explained that Tinubu would first travel to France before heading to Nairobi, Kenya, for the Africa-France summit.
The summit, co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto, will focus on energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, restructuring of the global financing architecture, and climate action.
It is scheduled to hold from May 11 to May 12 under the theme “Africa forward: Africa-France partnerships for innovation and growth.”
According to Onanuga, the event will bring together African and French leaders to discuss economic transformation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, climate resilience, technological advancement, and peacebuilding.

“The African-France summit… will bring together African and French leaders to deliberate on economic transformation, climate resilience, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, technological advancement, and peacebuilding,” the statement said.
He added that after the Kenya engagement, the President will proceed to Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the Africa CEO Forum scheduled for May 14 to 15.
The forum, themed “Scale or Fail”, is expected to host more than 2,000 business leaders and policymakers to explore strategies for boosting economic growth through regional integration and investment partnerships.
Tinubu is expected to use both engagements to highlight Nigeria’s economic reforms and strengthen international partnerships.
