Afrobeats star Tiwa Savage has emphasized that talent by itself is not enough to build a lasting career in the music industry, stressing the need for access, structure and opportunity.

She made the statement while speaking about the vision behind her Tiwa Savage Music Foundation, an initiative designed to support and train emerging African creatives.

“Music changed my life but talent alone isn’t enough especially when access is limited,” she said.

Savage added, “I want to open people’s eyes to the full scope of what’s possible in music.”

As part of the programme, she is scheduled to host a grand finale concert on April 26 featuring over 100 participants who recently completed training in collaboration with Berklee College of Music.

The event will hold at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts in Lagos, with Darey Art Alade and Kie Kie serving as hosts.

She explained that her mission goes beyond creating artistes, saying she is focused on raising future industry leaders.

“I don’t just want to launch artists; I want to build leaders, producers, executives and owners who will shape the future of the music industry,” she said.

Savage further noted that beneficiaries of the programme are expected to grow into composers, executives and mentors who will support the next generation of creatives.

“Our alumni will become film composers, label executives and mentors who reinvest in the next generation. If a young musician from a small neighbourhood can say the foundation changed their life, then we’ve achieved something meaningful,” she added.
