Nigerian singer Peter Okoye has dismissed claims that women are responsible for the renewed crisis within the Okoye family, insisting that the dispute is deeply rooted in years of mistrust and alleged betrayal.
In posts shared via his X account on Wednesday, the former P-Square member criticised attempts to link the situation to outside influence, describing such narratives as misleading.
“Before you drag any woman into this! No woman directed or advised anyone to steal from what I worked for over the years. Stop pushing that narrative to suit your agenda,” he wrote.
He emphasised that the issues date back more than two decades, long before any of the family members got married.
“None of us were even married 20-something years ago when this whole betrayal and stealing started! I said what I said,” he added.
Opening up on the personal toll of the conflict, the singer admitted that while the situation is painful, he has chosen to prioritise his wellbeing.
“Yes, it’s painful. And yes, it’s my loss. But no one should keep reminding me that I was betrayed and used by my own blood for over 20 years plus,” he said.
Mr P also defended his decision to distance himself, stressing the importance of setting boundaries even within family relationships.
“Even if my parents were alive and supported this kind of betrayal, I’d still choose to step back, cut them off and protect my peace. Boundaries are necessary! Blood isn’t thicker than my peace of mind.”
He further disclosed that the dispute remains unresolved and has moved into the legal arena.

“Now that I’ve uncovered the betrayal that has been going on for over 20 years plus, suddenly we’re blood? No… it doesn’t work like that. We are still in court!” he stated.
The ongoing feud continues to involve his twin brother Paul Okoye and their elder brother Jude Okoye, with disagreements over finances, management, and control of their music catalogue persisting over the years.
The group first split in 2017, reunited briefly in 2021, and later fell out again as tensions resurfaced, with the matter now the subject of legal proceedings.
