The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has announced plans to appeal the Confederation of African Football (CAF) decision that stripped Senegal of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title, officially awarding the championship to Morocco.

On Tuesday, the CAF Appeals Board ruled that Senegal forfeited the AFCON final after several players walked off the pitch in protest over a referee’s decision, citing breaches of Articles 82 and 84 of the tournament regulations. This ruling followed Morocco’s appeal challenging an earlier decision by CAF’s Disciplinary Committee, which had dismissed the country’s request to overturn the final result.

Reacting to the Appeals Board verdict on Wednesday, the FSF described the ruling as damaging to African football and declared its intention to escalate the matter.

“The Senegalese Football Federation denounces this unfair, unprecedented, and unacceptable decision, which discredits African football,” the statement reads.

“To defend its rights and the interests of Senegalese football, the federation will initiate an appeal as soon as possible before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne.

“The FSF reaffirms its unwavering commitment to the values of integrity and sporting justice and will keep the public informed of developments in this matter.”

The CAF Appeals Board, which issued the decision, is composed of nine members and is chaired by Nigerian judge Roli Daibo Harriman.
