The Nasir El-Rufai is set to be arraigned by the Department of State Services (DSS) on Wednesday, February 25, over alleged cybercrime and breach of national security.
El-Rufai will appear before Joyce Abdulmalik, judge of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The former Federal Capital Territory (FCT) minister was briefly taken into DSS custody on February 18 after spending two nights with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
During an interview on Prime Time, an Arise Television programme, last Saturday, el-Rufai alleged that “someone wiretapped” the phone of Nuhu Ribadu, the national security adviser (NSA), which allowed him to hear Ribadu instruct security operatives to effect his arrest.

On Monday, the DSS filed a three-count charge against el-Rufai, accusing him of intercepting the NSA’s telephone conversation. The secret police stated that the alleged offence violated the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Amendment Act, 2024 and the Nigerian Communications Act, 2003.
El-Rufai has also been in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) over alleged corruption during his tenure as Kaduna State governor.
