The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has confirmed that the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream I Orientation Course will begin nationwide on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, across all 37 NYSC orientation camps in the country.

In a statement shared on the scheme’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, the NYSC disclosed that camp registration for prospective corps members will run from Wednesday, January 21, until midnight on Friday, January 23, 2026.

“Camp Registration for all Corps Members will take place from Wednesday, 21st to midnight of Friday 23rd, January, 2026,” the statement read.

The agency further announced that the Swearing-in Ceremony is scheduled for Friday, January 23, 2026, while the orientation exercise will officially end with the Closing Ceremony on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.

Wishing prospective corps members a safe journey to their states of deployment, the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, advised them to avoid travelling at night and to prioritise their safety.

NYSC management also urged all participants to strictly comply with the orientation timetable to ensure a hitch-free and successful camp experience.

Established in 1973 to promote national unity and integration after the Nigerian Civil War, the NYSC scheme begins with a compulsory three-week orientation course. During this period, corps members participate in paramilitary drills, Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) training, lectures on national issues, and various cultural and social activities.

The programme is designed to encourage interaction, cooperation, and understanding among young Nigerians from diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds.
