Former Labour Party presidential candidate and ex–Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election.

Obi made the confirmation while speaking during an X Spaces session on Sunday night, where he addressed supporters and clarified his political direction ahead of the next general election.

During the conversation, the former governor firmly stated that he has no interest in serving as a running mate to any candidate, stressing that his political journey and experience are geared toward leading, not deputising.

“I am not travelling round the world to learn governance to be Vice president,” Obi said.

He further expressed confidence in his capacity to lead the country, pointing to his background in business and governance. According to him, “I know how to turn Nigeria around. I built my business from scratch and have more experience than any candidate, including the sitting President.”

Reaffirming his ambition, Obi told listeners that he would be on the ballot in 2027 and appealed for public support. “Peter Obi will be on the ballot in 2027. I need your support. I need your prayers.”
