Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has expressed pride in his team’s display against Tunisia, even though Nigeria conceded two late goals in their 3-2 victory.

The Eagles dominated most of the match on Saturday during their second game at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), with goals from Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi, and Ademola Lookman.

Nigeria seemed on course for a comfortable win until they allowed two goals in the final 15 minutes.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Chelle acknowledged his aspiration to field a team capable of maintaining high-pressure football for the full 90 minutes, though he admitted it is “impossible.”

“The reality is, we deserve this win. At the end of the halftime we have 70 percent of the possession,” Chelle said.

“Until the 75th minute, we were the best team on the pitch. So I am very proud and happy for my players. We have to improve for the last 15 minutes. But, for sure, it is impossible to do high pressure on the pitch for full 90 minutes. It is impossible. My vision and dream is to have a team that can do that, but it is impossible.”

With the win, the Super Eagles top Group C with six points and have secured a spot in the second round of the tournament. They will face Uganda in their final group-stage match on Tuesday.
