Nollywood actor, Foluke Daramola-Salako says her support for President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 election almost crashed her marriage.

Not only that, she said, it also cost her two ambassadorial deals worth N25 million!

In an interview on Behind The Fame TV, Foluke said she suffered backlash for going against the “Obidient movement” during the poll.

Her husband, Kayode Salako is a member of the Labour Party.

“The truth of the matter is, for me, the way I was in 2023 cannot be the way I will be in 2027. It can’t be because… I know what I lost without collecting a kobo, no matter how much is seen. I lost two ambassadorial deals, one 10 million, one 15 million, because of the election, because of Obidient movement. I almost lost my marriage,” she said.

“I almost lost my marriage but the fundamental thing is that I voted my conscience and choice.”

The actress, who served as media assistant for the performing arts directorate in Lagos during Tinubu’s campaign, stressed that her loyalty was not bought.

“I know what I lost without collecting a kobo,” she added.

Foluke also said she had expected Tinubu’s administration to be youth-oriented.

“He didn’t follow the plan. The truth of the matter is, we thought that it was going to be youth-oriented one… this is not a youth-inclusive government,” she told Tori.ng in another interview.

She joined critics of the fuel subsidy removal, saying: “The common thing that all the presidents had was the removal of fuel subsidies. They all removed fuel subsidy. That’s what spoilt everything.”

Foluke married her husband Kayode Salako in 2013, months after divorcing her first husband Tunde Sobowale.

Foluke is not the only Nollywood star to speak about disappointment after backing Tinubu.

Actress Aminatu Papapa (Bukky Raji) told Oyinmomo TV she wished she had never campaigned for him. “If they asked me what was the only thing I have ever done in my life that I have regretted, it was during that election time… That I campaigned for Tinubu really hurts me because the poor are really suffering,” she said.

Veteran actor Ganiu Nafiu, popularly known as Alapini, lamented abandoning work for months to campaign for Tinubu only to be met with hardship. “What they gave us is the hardship we are facing now… Maybe in this second campaign, the only support we’ll offer will be curses for anyone who votes for him,” he said.

Fatai Adetayo, also known as Lalude, who campaigned for Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu, said: “If we curse them, they will not escape it, even in death. We campaigned for Sanwo-Olu and Tinubu, yet we’ve received nothing.”
