Grammy 2025: Nigerian music sensation Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has clinched the Best African Music Performance award at the 67th Grammy Awards, held at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on Sunday.

Tems secured the prestigious win with her hit single Love Me JeJe, triumphing over strong contenders including Tomorrow by Yemi Alade, MMS by Asake featuring Wizkid, Sensational by Chris Brown featuring Davido and Lojay, and Higher by Burna Boy.

Grammy 2025: This marks her second Grammy win, further cementing her status as a global music force. South African singer Tyla won the category’s inaugural edition in 2024 with her viral hit Water.

Tems received a total of three nominations at this year’s Grammys, bringing her career tally to eight. She was also in contention for Best Global Music Album (Born in the Wild) and Best R&B Song (Burning), though those categories were won by Matt B & the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and SZA, respectively.

Grammy 2025: With this latest accolade, Tems continues to blaze a trail in the international music scene, reinforcing Nigeria’s dominance on the global stage.
