Pastor Idowu Iluyomade, formerly the senior pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) City of David Parish, has founded a new ministry, The Family Fellowship, in Lagos.

A viral video circulating on Monday showed Pastor Idowu Iluyomade and congregants celebrating the inaugural service, held on Sunday at the Civic Centre in Victoria Island, Lagos. The joyous occasion was marked by dancing and jubilation.
Public Announcement
Iluyomade announced the ministry’s launch on Instagram, inviting the public to join their fellowship. He posted: “The Family Fellowship invites you specially. Join us tomorrow at the Civic Centre for a special time in the Lord’s presence. Promises to be a great experience.”
Controversial Background
Pastor Idowu Iluyomade’s departure from RCCG followed his suspension in 2024, along with his wife, Pastor Siju Iluyomade, after they hosted a lavish celebration shortly after the tragic death of prominent church member Herbert Wigwe, former Access Bank CEO, along with his wife and son.
The timing of the celebration, just weeks after the Wigwe family’s passing in a U.S. helicopter crash, sparked widespread criticism, with many deeming it insensitive. Herbert Wigwe had been a major supporter of the City of David Parish.
In response to public outcry, the RCCG Governing Council launched an investigation, resulting in a three-month suspension for the Iluyomades, who were reassigned to the church’s Ebute Metta headquarters. Their suspension drew further attention when they were disinvited from the Wigwe family’s funeral.
New Beginnings
Now moving past their suspension, the Iluyomades aim to continue their spiritual mission through their newly founded ministry. The Family Fellowship represents a fresh start and an opportunity for the couple to lead a congregation in their own vision.
The inaugural service underscores the couple’s commitment to their ministry as they look to build a new community of worshippers.
