The Federal High Court has directed the release of Nigerian singer Speed Darlington, also known as Akpi, who was detained ahead of a hearing on a defamation case involving Burna Boy.

This ruling comes shortly after socialite Cubana Chief Priest publicly vowed to assist Speed Darlington in securing his freedom, amidst their ongoing clash with Burna Boy.

Court’s Directive

The court instructed that Speed Darlington be released immediately, with Abubakar Marshal, Esq., serving as his surety pending the substantive hearing of the case.

The singer’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the development via a post on X (formerly Twitter): “The Federal High Court has directed the Nigerian Police to comply with the order to release Speed Darlington immediately pending the hearing of the substantive matter. The court further directs Abubakar Marshal, Esq. to stand as surety to Akpi.

Background

Speed Darlington’s detention has been the subject of public interest, especially following Cubana Chief Priest’s commitment to securing his release.

Fans and supporters now await further updates on the unfolding defamation case and its implications for both Speed Darlington and Burna Boy.
