Nigerian lawyer Deji Adeyanju has criticized Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy for gifting $30,000 to a man allegedly linked to socialite Cubana Chief Priest, labeling the act as clout-chasing.

The gift, which followed an online feud between Burna Boy and Cubana Chief Priest, has stirred reactions across social media.

Burna Boy reportedly donated to spite the socialite after the man claimed to be Cubana’s brother. However, Cubana Chief Priest has since denied any familial ties to the recipient.

Adeyanju took to social media, questioning Burna Boy’s priorities:
“The person that gave $30K for clout has more poor people in his extended family than those in Chief Priest’s family. Giving money to some folks is a waste.”

The post sparked mixed reactions:

  • @omoopee defended Burna Boy, saying, “Helping others should never be reduced to clout-chasing. A $30K gift to change someone’s life is a sign of generosity.”
  • @mummy_z523 added, “In Africa, we take care of our own. One blessed member is enough for an entire family. Let’s stop judging.”
  • @onyeoma_iyke, however, expressed skepticism: “In this difficult Nigeria, someone gave out $30K for clout? There are countless orphanages that need just 5% of that to survive.”

The debate has reignited conversations around the nature of generosity, family obligations, and public perception of celebrity philanthropy.
