A businessman and resident of Gandurawa in the Minjibir Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Rilwan Ali, has been killed.
The Chairman of the local government, Alhaji Nasiru Kuniya, who made the disclosure in a statement made available to journalists by the Information Officer of the council, Yahaya Daninduniya, said gunmen invaded the home of the businessman around 1.30pm on Saturday, shot him and took away with his wife.
Kuniya said his administration would cooperate with all security agencies to ensure that the perpetrators were apprehended and brought to justice.
When contacted, the spokesman for the police in the state, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, who confirmed the incident, promised that the command would release a detailed statement on the facts of the incident soon.
He, however, stated that a suspect had been arrested in connection with the crime.
