All members of staff in the office of the Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Mr. Abba Kyari, have been sent home to self- isolate in order to contain the spread of the Coronavirus that has hit their principal.

Mr. Abba Kyari tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday.

The news of the Chief of Staff office facing a lockdown due to Coronavirus was disclosed by the TVC reporter in the Aso Villa.

Kyari had travelled to Germany on Saturday, March 7th to meet with officials of Siemens in Munich on the Nigerian electricity expansion programme.

He returned exactly one week later on Saturday, March 14th, but did not show any symptoms.

He was said to have been at a meeting on containing the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria all through Sunday, where he reportedly started to cough.

Subsequently, he voluntarily submitted himself for testing and was informed of his status yesterday.

Kyari has however gone into absolute isolation following the test result.

Meanwhile, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has sent his prayers for the Chief of Staff of the President, Abba Kyari, who has tested positive for the coronavirus.

Tweeting on Tuesday, he wrote: “My thoughts and prayers are with Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari…”

Atiku, whose son has also tested positive for the virus, then rounded off his wishes in Hausa. … “Allah ya kare mu gabaki daya, kuma ya bashi lafiya. –AA”

Senator Dino Melaye also wrote on Twitter: “My empathy and prayer goes to Alh. Abba Kyari (Chief of Staff) to Mr President. Our Good Lord will heal you and heal our landFormer minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, tweeted saying he wished Kyari quick recovery.

“I just confirmed that my old friend & brother Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff to Pres. Buhari has tested positive to Covid 19. I sincerely & honestly wish him well & pray for a quick recovery for him just as I do for all other Nigerians that have tested positive, including @atiku’s son,” he wrote.

There are now 40 confirmed cases of the virus in Nigeria with one death.
