Nigerian-born British boxer, Anthony Joshua, has suggested that he might be sparing himself of Nigerian dish, pounded yam, as he prepares for a rematch with Andy Ruiz.
Joshua lost his World Boxing Association, International Boxing Federation and World Boxing Organization titles to Mexican boxer, Andy Ruiz Jr, in a major upset last Sunday.
“I got beaten by a good fighter,” said Joshua on Sky Sports after the fight. “It will be interesting to see how far he goes, but this is all part of the journey.
“He’s a champion for now, I shall return.”
With the rematch now confirmed to hold sometime in November, the fighter, on Thursday via Instastories, made a short video of his new diet.
In another post, he teased: “Does this mean no more pounded yam?”
Anthony Joshua now joins the likes of Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson as dominant champions to suffer losses which brought the sport to a standstill.
Since losing his title, he has received so much love from fans in Nigeria and the government.
