The rumour was all over town that Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe betrayed another actress Bimbo Akisanya, by ‘snatching’ her ex husband, Lanre Gentry. As a matter of fact, the conclusion was that whatever happened to Mercy/Lanre Gentry was as a law of retribution.
But the ‘lead’ character in the Mercy/Lanre Gentry ‘drama’ Bimbo Akisanya, has denied having any affair with Gentry.
Attributing this to the work of detractors, Bimbo Akisanya said in an interview with Encomium magazine, “, “I was shocked when my attention was called to the post that I was once married to Mercy Aigbe’s husband. That’s absolute lie. I only met the man about 14 years ago when we were filming in his office, and I was not the only one. 
“Since, I never met him. I didn’t even know him well until he married Mercy. So, I don’t know how and where they came across their story. How can some bloggers sit at the corners of their rooms and be fabricating lies against another person without calling that person to confirm the tale or rumour about what they heard about the person? Have they called me or Gentry to find out whether we have ever dated let alone married? That’s malicious. I think those behind the stuff are only interested in maligning me.
“To put the record straight, I got married in 2014. I got separated from my husband in 2015 when my son was just three years old. I have since remained a single mother. So, Gentry and I never dated let alone marry. Anybody in doubt is free to confirm what I said from Gentry himself or Mercy Aigbe. Some people are just being mischievous for peddling that kind of rumour.”
A talented and versatile actress, Bimbo Akisanya was quite popular and a regular face in most movies a few years ago. A graduate of the Olabisi Onabanjo University, she has been off the screen for a while.
On May 24, 2014, she married Olawale Ayoola but the marriage crashed.
In an interview in 2015, the beautiful actress, in her submission, said she would rather stay single if marriage like the one she had last was all that is left in the world, because, “I didn’t enjoy a bit of my married life while with my former husband.”
“I had to sneak out of my marriage with my little baby boy when life became so hot for me. All I need to say is that, I’m free from the bondage of captivity. I can no longer subject myself to incessant beating like a punching bag. My husband does not regard me as wife, he’s fond of committing several atrocities that are unprintable. He’s such a womanizer that has no competitor. The painful aspect of the matter is that he flirted around with married women of all kinds,” Bimbo stressed.
