It’s not all tears for Moji Olaiya’s ageing mum afterall.

Just few days after the late Nollywood actress was buried, plans are underway to establish a viable business that would help augment income for her mum and two daughters—18-year-old Adunoluwa and three-month-old Mariam.

Speaking to Sunday PUNCH in an interview, actress Foluke Daramola-Salako, who is also a member of the Moji Olaiya Burial Committee, revealed that friends, fans and colleagues have promised not only to offer the deceased actress’ children scholarship, but donate enough that would help get a new lease of life for the ageing mum.

She said, “So far, some of the people that we got in touch with concerning the burial have promised to offer Moji’s children scholarships. As a committee, we are trying as much as possible to liaise with these people. We are also planning to have a fixed deposit account for the baby, Mariam. By the time she is around 10 years old, if there is a need to turn it over to her for her schooling and other things, we would do that or carry out an insurance plan for her. We also plan to have a trust fund for her or endow a foundation on her behalf. We have a lot of plans and as time goes on, things would be clearer. We might also institute a business for Moji’s aged mother through which she can get funds, no matter how little, to take care of the kids. Because of her age, it has to be something that wouldn’t be too strenuous. Mariam and Adun will be staying with their grandmother.”

Moji Olaiya, who was one of the children of highlife music icon, Victor Olaiya, died on May 18 while abroad, two months after the birth of her baby. She had her second daughter in March and reports have it that she must have suffered complications as a result of childbirth. Her baby was born premature.

The deceased is survived by her two parents, her two daughters— one aged 18 and the other only three months old who she had gone to be delivered of in Canada.
