At least 11 people sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle collision on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway’s Interchange section early Saturday morning.

According to a statement by Babatunde Akinbiyi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency (TRACE), the accident occurred at approximately 7:30 am near the Cway junction.

The crash involved a Mazda bus, a Mack truck, and a Toyota Hiace bus. Akinbiyi explained that the Mack truck driver was attempting to manoeuvre into the premises of a private company when the speeding Mazda bus collided with it. Moments later, the Toyota Hiace bus lost control and crashed into the other vehicles.

“The crash was caused by excessive speed and impatience,” Akinbiyi noted, adding that eyewitnesses confirmed the chaotic sequence of events.

Casualty Details:

  • Total Involved: 21 people (12 adult males, 9 adult females)
  • Injured: 11 people (8 males, 3 females)

The injured were rushed to Idera Hospital in Shagamu by officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

The vehicles involved include:

  • Mazda bus (SMK 554 YH)
  • Mack truck (FNN 934 XA)
  • Toyota Hiace bus (KJA 995 XA)

Emergency response teams, including TRACE, FRSC, and police officers, swiftly arrived at the scene to manage the situation and assist victims.
