Jumai was in heaven currently. Heaven? Yes, she was in love with a young man who is an angel!
At 40, single, pretty and with a lucrative business, she knew getting a serious guy could be challenging.
“I’ve prayed to God and he sent me an answer through Richard,” she recalled.
Handsome, young and very comfortable, she remembered vividly her first day with him.
She was a businesswoman and needed to get some transactions done at the bank. The queue was crazy! Luckily, a young man, who was almost getting to the cashier, opted out and asked her to take his place. Was she grateful? They exchanged numbers and became friends afterwards.
“It was a quite a different experience from all the guys I have dated. For someone, who had been heartbroken for a while, the constant call from a caring man was a relief. Richard’s phone calls woke me up in the morning and he made sure he spoke to me before I retired to bed. He was too loving,” she said.
A courtship sprang up and in two months, he proposed. “I was happy and knew my life would never be the same again. I started calling friends, family members and those I prayed with in church to inform them of the good news.
Indeed, this was the time to make my former boyfriend, Isaac, go green with envy. Of course, I said yes and we started making wedding plans.”
Richard is a graduate, he worked in an oil servicing company and lived in a high-brow area. His apartment spelt success and was any woman’s dream. This was what Jumai prayed for—a successful bachelor.
She narrated, “Even my friends envied me. To think that at 40, a young man was all over me and would pamper me as if I was an egg. Fortunately, he was 38 years and we both felt the two-year age difference didn’t matter as
long as we were in love.”
Everyone but Jumai’s father shared in her joy.
A widower of many years, Jumai was his only comfort since all his male children were abroad and also married. He found solace in his daughter’s company and always advised her about marrying the right man.
“This Richard is too sweet to be real. I still believe he’s not your Mr Right,” her father warned one day when she was about going to visit Richard.
