As a single mum, songstress, Waje Iruobe, has made some sacrifices to get the best from her daughter, Emerald.
One of such is not allowing male guests into her home.
Waje, who had the now 18-year-old daughter when she was a teenager, revealed that as a single mother, she needed role models for her only child and not create bad impression.
She said, “Because you don’t want to bring up a child in an environment where she thinks that it is okay to have men come in and go out of your life. So it’s a rule. I don’t care how close you are to me; you can’t come to my house. After her father, since I started dating, my daughter has only seen one person and after that person she’s never met another person again. But I try and give her a father figure. So I create role models around her. I’ll have her go and spend time with my pastor’s family so she can have a family.”
Recently, her daughter turned 18 and Waje penned down an emotional birthday greetings for her.
The artiste, who confessed that she is dating, wrote:
“I woke up at 12 midnight to pray for my daughter and could only just thank God for giving me this gift.
We are 18 today and my prayer is that you shine in everything you do, that the lord will be your master and He will give u wisdom as your journey. I use u as a point of contact to all young adults (your friends etc), that the grace to be leaders and great ambassadors of your family and country will be given to thee and you will lack nothing.
Happy birthday my love.
Thank you for coming to earth through me
Thank you for being the curious multi talented, well behaved child.
You are such a light and I pray it never dims..
