The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has unveiled a significant shift in its examination conduct by introducing the Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode for the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).

As disclosed in a statement signed by WAEC’s acting head of the Public Affairs Unit, Moyosola Adesina, released on Monday, November 13, 2023, this innovation will debut during the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates in February 2024.

The statement highlighted, “In line with global best practices, the Nigeria National Office of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) wishes to inform the general public and all its stakeholders that it has concluded plans to migrate its WASSCE for Private Candidates Examination Diets from Paper and Pencil Test to Computer Based Examination (CBE).”

Having stood for 72 years, this esteemed institution remains the oldest examination body in the West African sub-region, and its results continue to be recognized and accepted by global institutions for various opportunities, including admissions.
